That is false.

An ion is "an electrically charged atom or group of atoms formed by the loss or gain of one or more electrons."

But in detail anion means gaining of electrons.

So, a gain of electrons by an atom creates an anion.

False, a loss of electrons would make the atom positive, it will become a Cation.
