if i had a yard that was 264 feet and decided to increase it too 375 feet what is the percent increase of the yard

Let's suppose that the 264 feet is the 100%, then we can find the percent increase with a rule of three:

[tex]\begin{gathered} 264ft\rightarrow100\text{ \%} \\ 375ft\rightarrow x\text{ \%} \\ \Rightarrow x=\frac{375\cdot100}{264}=\frac{37500}{264}=142.04 \\ x=142.04\text{ \%} \end{gathered}[/tex]

Since 375 ft is 142.04% of the original size, we have that the percent increase of the yard is: 142.04-100=42.04%
