Simply going to factorise this:

v(v - 1) -2(1 - v):
                                     Note 1 - v = -(v-1)

v(v - 1) -2(1 - v)

v(v - 1) -2(-(v - 1))

v(v - 1) +2(v - 1)

(v + 2)(v - 1)
