Answer: Cyril was a second name of Constantin. Constantin received this name shortly before his death (before his death he lived as a monk) in Rome. Both brothers were proclaimed co-patrons of Europe by the pope John Paul II.

Explanation: during Middle Ages they were considered bishops, but there is no proof for that. They came to Central Europe from Byzantium (Greece) as a missionaries sent by the pope Nicolas I.
