Lineage groups served as the building block as of the African society. This is where the group can declare their descendants, which has a common ancestry wither real or imaginary. They could verify their ancestry through the use of lineage groups and a sense of belongingness, hereafter. These were also the basis of formation of linear groups which the cohesion of the different extended family elements.
