The slope-intercept form:

[tex]y=mx+b[/tex]

m - slope

b - y-intercept

We have the slope m = -3 and the y-intercept b = 1. Substitute:

[tex]y=-3x+1[/tex]

It is a linear function. We need only two points to plot the graph.

Select two values of x. Put them in the line equation and calculate the values of y.

for x = 0:

[tex]y=-3(0)+1=0+1=1\to(0,\ 1)[/tex]

for x = 1:

[tex]y=-3(1)+1=-3+1=-2\to(1,\ -2)[/tex]
